TallGrass (one word) Writers Guild Anthology Guidelines for LUCK

THE BASICS—details follow below
- Submissions DEADLINE: Extended to 9-30-2026.
- $1,000 in cash prizes—$500 award each Category:
1.Poetry +2. Prose (Fiction + Nonfiction).

- Previously published/simultaneous submissions/cuttings from longer Prose entries OK.
- Publication planned for 2026.
- Non-Refundable Fees: Poetry: $18 per Group of 1 to 4 poems or Partial Group of poems. Each Group or Partial Group is a separate fee of $18.
- Each Prose entry (Fiction + Nonfiction) is a Group. The fee is $18 per Group.
POSSIBLE THEMES and SUBJECTS to CONSIDER—themes interpreted broadly
- Card/Dice/Board Games, “Luck be a Lady Tonight,” Gambling/making our own luck.
- High-Risk sports (skydiving, auto racing, mountain climbing, equestrian sport.
- “Born on a bad day” or "…under a Lucky Star"; Friday the 13th.
FORMATTING AND MECHANICS
- Poetry —On top-right corner per page: required Author’s Contact Info (Residential Only): name + postal/email addresses + phone numbers. No long lines or titles—our anthologies measure. 8.5 x 5.5 inches. Single-spaced, to 32 lines w/spaces (not counting title and by-line). No head or foot notes. A separate file per poem.
- Prose (Fiction + Nonfiction) — On top-right corner (page 1 only): see Author’s Contact Info for poetry (above). Double-spaced manuscripts to 2,500 words. A separate file for each prose entry. Number each page.
THE PROCESS
- All submissions read/evaluated by in-house editorial staff.
- Submission does not guarantee acceptance; manuscripts making the final cut are forwarded to independent judges for possible cash award. Those who are published receive a free copy
- Prize winners receive Featured Reader status at our Publishing Party.
